The Humanitarian Supply Resilience Initiative (HSRI), previously the Global Supply Resilience Initiative, was founded in 2021 in collaboration with The World Economic Forum, UNICEF, Accenture, and Everstream Analytics. The program was originally intended to enhance supply chain visibility and resilience amidst major global disruptors such as the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In 2025, HSRI began focusing it's mandate. The initiative now convenes partners across the public and private sectors, international organizations, and the Forum’s broader network to co-develop solutions that enhance supply chain resilience during humanitarian response.
During humanitarian response, access to essential goods depends on supply chains that remain functional and adaptable. Yet in moments of crisis, these systems face heightened stress, making this reality increasingly difficult.
HSRI aims to reduce systemic risk in humanitarian supply chains by providing shared intelligence, trusted data governance, and coordinated response mechanisms, lowering the operational and financial risks faced by humanitarian actors.
As natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and global disruptions reach a historic highs, supply chains have become increasingly disrupted. This increase underscores the urgent need for more resilient systems that can reliably support vulnerable communities during periods of instability.
HSRI enables the unprecedented cross-sector collaboration needed to create these systems.
